The Division Is Coming to the Tabletop Gaming World as a Brutally Tactical Tabletop Role-Playing Game

The gritty world of Tom Clancy’s The Division will be adapted into a dice-based role-playing experience. A partnership was established to develop a TTRPG set within the franchise’s post-pandemic setting. This initiative has been announced, with a funding drive scheduled to launch in the spring of 2026.

"This endeavor aims to deliver the franchise’s distinctive tension, strategic depth, and memorable setting to the tabletop, offering fans a fresh avenue to engage with The Division through deep narrative and player-driven missions," states an announcement.

Launch products will include a starter set, essential manuals, a GM screen, miniatures, and various premium versions.

Delving Into The Division's Apocalyptic World

In this universe, a lethal pathogen called Green Poison was unleashed in New York City, sending the United States into turmoil. As the crisis worsens, society crumbles and hostile groups rise, turning the urban landscape into a warzone. To restore order, the authorities {activate|deploy] The Division, a secret cell of undercover operatives. That’s where the agents come in.

Work on the game has been underway for about three years, and it is reportedly finished. The upcoming crowdfunding effort will serve as a pre-launch sales platform to access a broader audience, particularly in the United States. Manufacturing is slated to begin immediately following the fundraiser, with shipping projected for the latter part of 2026.

An Innovative Tactical System: The GRIS System

A preview at the system reveals it employs d10s exclusively through its proprietary GRIS system, encouraging a streamlined and strategic style. Agents leverage skills or traits to roll small dice pools, usually from one to five d10s.

  • Instead of adding results together, participants select a single “result die” from the group.
  • This dice is then measured against a set challenge number.
  • Achieving a perfect 10 triggers additional bonuses, such as increased harm or enhanced aid.

Combat Focus On Tactical Placement and Situational Insight

Fights stress positioning and situational awareness, reflecting the video games. Factors like taking cover, elevation, or visibility directly influence success chances. This mechanic is designed to favor coordination and smart positioning instead of simple statistics.

A Thematic Health System

The way injuries is tracked adds a compelling thematic twist. Agents have a wound threshold; taking heavy hits weakens their capabilities by decreasing the number of d10s.

  1. At zero health, an agent is downed, but is not knocked out.
  2. They can still crawl and take limited actions, emulating the "downed" state seen in video game shooters.
  3. Any agent knocked down must roll on a trauma table, risking lingering conditions like shock or crippling injuries.

A Ready-to-Play Adventure

A free Quickstart Guide is promised soon. It includes a pre-made starting adventure titled Ashes of Murray Hill. In this mission, players lead the search for a missing medical team and work to stop an attack by the violent Rikers gang, who have taken over that Manhattan district. More specifics and the full range of offerings are expected to be detailed near the Kickstarter start date.
