Iranian forces say they have struck a US naval base in Bahrain, as the country executed missile attacks throughout the Middle East in response for a "massive" and ongoing offensive against it by the United States and Israeli forces.

Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the headquarters of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The scope of any damage is not yet known and the United States has remained silent.

Airspace Engagements

Elsewhere across the region, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar and Kuwait - each hosting American military installations - said they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.

In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted a number of projectiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the Middle East.

Iran's Declared Retaliation

Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) declared it was targeting American facilities and interests as part of operation "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on Iran launched by the US and Israel on Saturday.

That preceding assault - executed at around 06:15 GMT - has so far targeted sites associated with the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump urging the people of Iran to revolt against the government.

Wider Impacts

In the State of Israel, sirens were heard nationwide after the Israeli military stated it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.

The Ministry of Defence of the UAE stated that the country has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".

"UAE air defence systems dealt with the missiles with high efficiency and destroyed a number of missiles," the statement continued.

Officials reported wreckage fell on a residential area in the capital, causing some material damage and killing a civilian.

The US Air Force operates from the Al Dhafra base, south of the Emirati capital, along with the UAE Air Force.
