Ex- Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Legal authorities report that a former doctor stands accused of committing assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Allegations
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham is accused of dozens of acts of sexual assault – comprising acts against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor stated, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, meticulously examining the evidence to establish that there is sufficient evidence to bring the case to trial and that it is in the interest of justice.”
Scope of the Investigation
The charges follow what police described as a “detailed inquiry” into reported sexual offences at two hospitals: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
The defendant will appear at the local magistrates' court on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
The charging documents said the forty-five charges comprise:
- Fifteen counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- 9 counts of assault on a minor under thirteen.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- One count of attempting to assault by penetration.
